9. No Windows Work After The Ign. Is Turned From On to Off

CIRCUIT OPERATION
When a front door LH/RH is closed and the ignition switch is turned from ON to OFF, a timer operation signal is sent from the ETACS-ECU to the FRONT-ECU and the power window relay is turned ON for 30 seconds so that the windows can be opened or closed by the power window (main or sub) switch. When the front doors (LH or RH) are opened while the timer is operating, the timer will be canceled.

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
The cause may be a malfunction of the power window timer circuit or ground circuit.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
- Malfunction of the FRONT-ECU
- Malfunction of the ETACS-ECU
- Malfunction of the front door switch LH or RH
- Damaged harness wires or connectors

DIAGNOSIS
Required Special Tools:

CAUTION:" To prevent damage to the scan tool MB991502, make sure the ignition switch is "OFF" before connecting or disconnecting the scan tool MB991502.

STEP 1. Check the ETACS-ECU input signal. Using either the scan tool or a voltmeter

- Using the scan tool MB991502
1. Connect scan tool MB991502 to the data link connector.
2. If the tone alarm of scan tool MB991502 sounds once when the ignition switch is operated (IG1/OFF) or front door switch [LH] and [RH] is operated (ON/OFF), the ETACS-ECU input signal for that switch circuit system is normal.

- Using a voltmeter
1. Use special tool MB991529 to connect a voltmeter between ground terminal 4 or 5 and the ETACS-ECU terminal of the data link connector.
2. If a voltmeter indicator deflects once when the ignition switch is operated (IG1/OFF) any door opens/closes (door switch ON/OFF) or front door switch [LH] and [RH] is operated (ON/OFF), the ETACS-ECU input signal for that switch circuit system is normal.
If the input signal of the front door switch [LH] or [RH] is not normal, go to Step 2.
If the input signal of the ignition switch (IG1) is not normal, go to Step 8.
If the input signal of the front door switch [LH], [RH] and ignition switch (IG1) are not normal, go to Step 11.

STEP 2. Check the battery power supply line at the ETACS-ECU connector C-86.

If the harness wires are not damaged, go to Step 7.

NOTE: After inspecting intermediate connector C-67 or C-87, inspect the wire. If intermediate connector C-67 or C-87 is damaged, repair or replace it. Refer to Harness Connector Inspection. Then go to Step 15.

STEP 6. Check the harness wire between ETACS-ECU connector C-82 and front door switch [RH] connector D-08.
If any harness wire between ETACS-ECU connector C-82 and front door switch [RH] connector D-08 is damaged, repair it. Then go to Step 15.
If the harness wires are not damaged, go to Step 7.

NOTE: After inspecting intermediate connector C-69, inspect The wire. If intermediate connector C-69 is damaged, repair or replace it. Refer to Harness Connector Inspection. Then go to Step 15.

STEP 7. Check the harness wire between front door switch [LH] connector D-21 and ground or between front door [RH] connector D-08 and ground.
If any harness wire between front door switch [LH] connector D-21 and ground or between front door [RH] connector D-08 and ground is damaged, repair it. Then go to Step 15.
If the harness wires are not damaged, replace the ETACS-ECU. Then go to Step 15.

STEP 8. Check the ignition switch (IG1) power supply line at the ETACS-ECU connector C-86.

1. Remove the ETACS-ECU.
2. Connect the connector C-73 to the junction block.

3. Measure the voltage between terminal 11 and ground when the ignition switch is turned ON (IG1).
