Introduction to Windshield Wiper and Washer Diagnosis

The wiper and washer operates by means of multiple communication among the COLUMN-ECU, ETACS-ECU and FRONT-ECU. The input signal from the wiper switch is sent through the COLUMN-ECU to the FRONT-ECU. If the relay inside the FRONT-ECU turns on, power is supplied from the ignition switch through dedicated fuse number 8 to the wiper motor or washer motor, causing the motor to work.
If the following type of symptom occurs, there may be a fault.
- Although the wiper switch is turned on, the wipers do not work.
- Although the wiper switch is turned off, the wipers do not stop.
- Although the washer switch is depressed, the washer and wipers do not work.
