Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Refrigerant Temperature Sensor: Testing and Inspection

REFRIGERANT TEMPERATURE SWITCH

1. Dip the metal part of the refrigerant temperature switch into engine oil and increase the oil temperature using a gas burner or similar.

CAUTION: Do not heat more than necessary.

2. When the oil temperature reaches the standard value, check the continuity between the terminals.

NOTE: When the oil temperature is 150 °C (302 °F) or more and there is no continuity, the resistance will not be 2 Ohms or lower until the oil temperature reduces to 120 °C (248 °F) or less.
