USING THE MUT-III SCAN TOOL
ON RAIDER VEHICLES

This bulletin supercedes TSB-05-00-013, to add additional procedures now available with the MUT-III Revisions are indicated by -->.

PURPOSE
This bulletin describes current MUT-Ill scan tool usage on 2006 Raider models.

SERVICE INFORMATION





This bulletin contains information on the following MUT-III topics for Raider vehicles shown.

--> The following MUT-III feature is currently not available for Raider. OBD-II Monitor (If the vehicle is not ready for OBD-II emissions testing, the "Malfunction Indicator Light" will come on for 15 seconds, then blink for 5 seconds, and remain on until the vehicle is started. Drive the OBD-II drive cycle for each monitor. Refer to Group 17 in the service manual for details on OBD-II drive cycles.)

1. CONNECTING THE MUT-III

a. Use the MUT-Ill main harness A (blue) - MB991910, to connect the MUT-III to Raider vehicles. Be sure the ignition key is in the ON position.

b. After the MUT-III boots up, open Raider STV.





2. CHECKING VERSION NUMBER

a. MEDIC-II ONLY. Check download number. Compare to what is shown on the Mitsubishi Dealer Link (MDL).





b. STV ONLY. Check the software version number on the Raider STV Main Menu. Compare to what is shown on the MDL.

3. ACCESSING DIAGNOSTIC INFORMATION

a. Select System Select.

NOTE:
In the System Select menu, if an item is grayed out, the scan tool is not communicating with that system.





b. Select PCM. Click on the check mark at the bottom of the screen.





c. Select Self-diagnosis to read and clear codes.

d. Select Freeze Frame Data.

You must scroll down to the bottom of the list on the left side to view Misfire.

The freeze frame data type that you select will display on the right side of the screen.

NOTE:
Service # 1, Service # 2, Service # 3 indicate the order in which the DTCs were set.





Selecting Environmental Data will display the vehicle conditions at the time the DTC was set.

--> 4. HOW TO IDENTIFY MODELS WITH IMMOBILIZER

Only XLS V8 models are available with Immobilizer. Models equipped with Immobilizer are identified by the illumination of the security indicator in the instrument cluster during the bulb test.

--> 5. PROGRAMMING KEYS (models without Immobilizer)

a. Obtain the 4-digit PIN code from MDL SuperScreen.

b. Turn the ignition key to the ON position.

c. In the System Select menu, select WCM. Then click on the check mark at the bottom of the screen.

d. Select Misc. Function.

e. Select Program Ignition Keys or Key FOB then click on the check mark at the bottom of the screen.

f. The text box will read: "This function is to be used when programming a new ignition key, reprogramming an existing key, or programming an RKE only key to the vehicle. For SKIM equipped vehicles, this function will program the SKIM functionality along with the RKE functions. For RKE only vehicles, this function will program only the RKE functions. Press "OK"button to continue."

g. Click on the check mark, then enter the PIN code.

h. A message will then appear on the screen: "Please verify the PIN displayed below is the correct PIN for this vehicle before pressing "OK" button. Warning!! Entering the incorrect PIN 3 times could cause the WCM to enter Anti-Scan Lockout. Press "OK" button if this is the correct PIN."

Verify the PIN code is correct, then click on the check mark.

i. The text box will then read: "All FOBs must be programmed at the same time. Programming only one FOB will erase all previous programmed FOBs. When the 1st chime/beep is heard the WCM is in programming mode and you will then have 60 seconds to program ALL FOBs. Once the WCM is in programming mode, press the "Lock" and "Unlock" buttons simultaneously and then the "Unlock" button. The WCM will chime/beep as each FOB is successfully programmed."

Click on the check mark at the bottom of the screen.

j. The text box will then read: "Press the "Lock" and "Unlock" buttons simultaneously and the "Unlock" button to program the FOB. Repeat this step for all Key FOBs to be programmed.

You have 60 seconds to program all available key FOBs. Press the "OK" button when all key FOBs have been programmed."

Follow the instructions above, then click on the check mark at the bottom of the screen.

k. Verify all FOBs operate properly.

--> 6. PROGRAMMING KEYS models with Immobilizer)

NOTE:
On models equipped with immobilizer, both RKE and immobilizer are registered at the same time during the programming process described below.





a. Obtain the 4-digit PIN code from MDL SuperScreen.

b. Turn the ignition key to the ON position.

c. In the System Select menu, select WCM. Then click on the check mark at the bottom of the screen.

d. Select Misc. Function

e. Select Program Ignition Keys or Key FOB. Then click on the check mark at the bottom of the screen.

f. The text box will read: "This function is to be used when programming a new ignition key, reprogramming an existing key, or programming an RKE only key to the vehicle. For SKIM equipped vehicles, this function will program the SKIM functionality along with the RKE functions. For RKE only vehicles, this function will program only the RKE functions. Press "OK" button to continue."

g. Click on the check mark, then enter the PIN code.

h. A message will then appear on the screen: "Please verify the PIN displayed below is the correct PIN for this vehicle before pressing "OK" button. Warning!! Entering the incorrect PIN 3 times could cause the WCM to enter Anti-Scan Lockout. Press "OK" button if this is the correct PIN."

Verify the PIN code is correct, then click on the check mark at the bottom of the screen.

i. Repeat this process for additional keys. You can program up to eight keys.

j. Verify all keys and FOBs operate properly.

--> 7. ERASING KEYS

a. Obtain the 4-digit PIN code from the MDL SuperScreen as shown in step 6a.

b. From the Raider Main Menu, select System select.

c. From the System select menu, select WCM/SKREEM. Then click on the check mark at the bottom of the screen.

d. Select Misc. Function

e. Select Erase all ignition keys. Then click on the check mark at the bottom of the screen.

f. The text box will read: "This function erases all ignition keys currently programmed into this vehicle." Click on the check mark at the bottom of the screen.

g. Enter the PIN code obtained from the Super Screen. Then click on the check mark at the bottom of the screen.

h. A message will appear on the screen: "Please verify the PIN displayed below is the correct PIN for this vehicle before pressing "OK" button. Warning!! Entering the incorrect PIN 3 times could cause the WCM to enter Anti-Scan Lockout. Press "OK" button if this is the correct PIN."

Click on the check mark if the PIN is correct.

8. PROGRAMMING NEW PCMS

Replacement PCMs for Raiders require programming. Until it is programmed, the PCM will not operate, and a "Not Programmed" DTC will be set. Refer to TSB-06-13-010 for Generic PCM Replacement on Raider.

9. WCM (SKREEM) REPLACEMENT

The Wireless Control Module is sometimes referred to as SKREEM in the service manual.

When it is replaced, it is necessary to transfer the Secret Key code and the VIN from the PCM into the WCM, using the MUT-III "WCM Replaced" initialization procedure described below.
Completing this procedure may require replacement of the Sentry keys.

"WCM REPLACED" INITIALIZATION PROCEDURE:

a. In the System Select menu, select WCM then the check mark.

b. Select Miscellaneous Function. Then select WCM Replaced and check mark.

c. Follow the screen instructions. Enter the vehicle PIN number when prompted to do so.





d. Transfer of secret key successful. Cycle the ignition key prior to starting the vehicle. Select check mark.

e. Program any new Sentry keys into the WCM. Refer to "Programming Keys" in this TSB.

10. ADDING ACCESSORIES

a. In the System Select menu, select FCM then the check mark.

b. Select Misc. Functions.

c. Select Program Network Configuration then the check mark.

The following message will display:
"This function is to be used when adding or removing a module from the vehicle's CAN bus. Failure to perform this function will set a fault in the CGW/FCM." Select the check mark.





DO NOT ADD AN ECU THAT IS NOT INSTALLED ON THE VEHICLE.

b. Select the ECU that has been added, and click on the check mark. The "Available" column will then change to "Set".

--> 11. ADDING FOG LAMPS

a. From the Raider Main Menu, select System select.





b. From the System select menu, select FCM (Front Control Module). Click on the check mark at the bottom of the screen.

c. Select Misc. Function.

d. Select Add Fog lamps. Click on the check mark at the bottom of the screen.

e. The text box will read: "This feature will update the FCM/CGW configuration to enable or disable the Front Fog Lamp output and the Front Fog Lamp Dropout feature."

Click on the check mark at the bottom of the screen.

f. The text box will read: "Press "OK" button to change the Front Fog Lamp Output State."

Click on the check mark at the bottom of the screen to enable the fog lamps.

--> 12. ABS CONTROL MODULE INITIALIZING

a. From the Raider Main Menu, select System select.

b. From the System Select menu, select ABS. Click on the check mark at the bottom of the screen.





c. Select Misc. Function.

d. Select Initialize ECU. Click on the check mark at the bottom of the screen.





e. The text box will read: "This
routine is used to initialize the ECU."

Click on the check mark at the bottom of the screen.

f. The text box will read: "Initialize ESP sensor."

Click on the check mark at the bottom of the screen.

g. The text box will read: "Please verify that the vehicle is stationary, on level ground with the wheels straight and brake pedal released.

Click on the check mark at the bottom of the screen.

h. The text box will read "Clearing Rolls Byte. Engine must not be running. Turn off engine and turn ignition to run position." Click on the check mark at the bottom of the screen.

i. Initialization is now complete. Click on the check mark at the bottom of the screen.

j. Select the Home icon to return to the Raider Main Menu. Then clear all DTCs as described in Step 14.

13. 0CM CALIBRATION

a. From the Raider Main Menu, Select System select.

b. From the System Select menu, Select 0CM. Click on the check mark at the bottom of the screen.





c. Select System Test.





d. Select 0CM System Verification Test. Then click on the check mark at the bottom of the screen.

e. The text box will read: "This test will calibrate the 0CM. The 0CM seat weights must be used when performing this test. Correct any active DTCs for Battery, Ignition, 0CM internal, or CAN B Bus prior to running this test."

Click on the check mark at the bottom of the screen.

f. The text box will then read: "Ensure the passengers seat is empty and in the full rear ward position."

Click on the check mark at the bottom of the screen. g.The text box will then read: "Phase 1 completed." Click on the check mark at the bottom of the screen.

h. The text box will then read: "Phase 2 completed. Ensure the RFIS seat weight is in seat and in the full rearward position."

Add the first weight as described, then click on the check mark at the bottom of the screen.

i. The text box will then read: "Phase 3 completed. Please ensure the RFIS base, 6 year old, and 5th percentile female seat weights are in the seat and in the full rearward position."

Add the final two weights as described then click on the check mark at the bottom of the screen.

j. The text box will then read: "Test complete."

Click on the check mark at the bottom of the screen.





k. Select the Home icon to return to the Raider Main Menu. Then clear all codes as described in Step 14.

--> 14. CHECKING AND CLEARING "ALL DTCs"

a. From the Raider Main Menu, select Special function.





b. Select All DTCs.





c. Click on the erase button at the bottom of the screen.

NOTE:
All ECUs are automatically selected (check mark next to each one). You can deselect an ECU(s) by clicking on the check mark (check mark will go away).





d. Verify there are now no DTCs listed.
