DIAGNOSIS
Required Special Tools:
- MB991223: Harness Set
- MB992006: Extra Fine Probe
STEP 1. Check of rear display unit DVD picture.
Check that the DVD picture is displayed normally when the rear display unit DVD player is used.
Q: Is the check result normal?
YES : Go to Step 2.
NO : Perform the troubleshooting related to the rear display unit DVD video. Trouble Symptom Chart
STEP 2. Check rear display unit connector D-16 and audio and video adaptor connector C-117 for loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector.
Q: Is rear display unit connector D-16 and audio and video adaptor connector C-117 in good condition?
YES : Go to Step 3.
NO : Repair or replace the damaged component(s). Refer to general (electrical), Harness Connector Inspection.
STEP 3. Check the wiring harness between rear display unit connector D-16 (terminal 31, 33, 36, 37, 38) and audio and video adaptor connector C-117 (terminal 1, 6, 2, 5, 4).
NOTE: Also check intermediate connector D-123 for loose, corroded, or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector. If intermediate connector D-123 is damaged, repair or replace the connector as described in general (electrical), Harness Connector Inspection.
- Check the communication lines for open circuit.
Q: Is the wiring harness between rear display unit connector D-16 (terminal 31, 33, 36, 37, 38) and audio and video adaptor connector C-117 (terminal 1, 6, 2, 5, 4) in good condition?
YES : Replace the audio and video adapter, then go to Step4.
NO : The wiring harness may be damaged or the connector(s) may have loose, corroded or damaged terminals, or terminals pushed back in the connector. Repair the wiring harness as necessary.
STEP 4. Retest the system
Check that the external input is normal.
Q: Is the check result normal?
YES : The trouble can be an intermittent malfunction (Refer to general (Body and Chassis) How to use Troubleshooting/inspection Service Points, How to Cope with Intermittent Malfunction).
NO : Replace the rear display unit.
