A/T - Shift Lever Stuck In 'PARK'

No: TSB-09-23-007

DATE: December, 2009

MODEL: 2007-09 Outlander

SUBJECT:
SHIFT LEVER STUCK IN PARK

Purpose

On some affected vehicles, the shift lever may get stuck in the "P" (PARK) position. The condition may occur with the ignition switch in the "ON" position, brake pedal depressed and stop lamps illuminated.

During normal vehicle operation, grease may have contaminated the park position detection switch located in the shift lever. When the driver attempts to shift from P, the shift lever cannot be moved if the switch is contaminated.

This Technical Service Bulletin provides instruction to replace the shift lever assembly on a customer complaint basis. Refer to the Parts Information section of this bulletin for part number information.

SPECIAL SHIFT SELECTOR RELEASE PROCEDURE

Customers should be advised to use the following procedure when the shift lever is stuck in park. This eliminates the need for towing.
