NO SOUND FROM PREMIUM AUDIO - ERROR DC DISPLAYED
PURPOSE:
Customers of some affected vehicles may experience the following conditions in vehicles equipped with Premium Sound:
^ No sound from the audio system due to fail safe (ERROR DC is displayed on screen).
^ No sound from audio system due to amplifier malfunction (no error message displayed).
^ No sound due to speakers damaged by amplifier malfunction.
The amplifier is located under the front passenger's seat. The condition may be caused by water from wet or snowy shoes (or other similar sources) entering through air vents in the amplifier protective cover, causing internal damage to the amplifier's electronics. This Technical Service Bulletin provides instructions to install a new amplifier protective cover and replace the damaged amplifier on a complaint basis only.
AFFECTED VEHICLE(S)
2007-09 Outlander with Premium Sound built prior to March 3, 2009.
PROCEDURE:
Using procedures shown in service manual Group 54 - Chassis Electrical, replace the Cover, Radio Amplifier with part number 8701A148 and the damaged amplifier.
NOTE:
Slide the passenger's front seat to its full forward position to access the amplifier.
