DATE: December, 2009

MODEL: 2008 Raider

SUBJECT:
TRAILER LIGHTS INOPERATIVE

This TSB supercedes TS8-08-54-070 issued July 2, 2008 to include ALL 2008 Raiders.
Revised information is italicized and indicated by -->.

PURPOSE

On some affected vehicles trailer tow lights may not function due to an improperly configured Front Control Module (FCM).

This Technical Service Bulletin advises dealers to reconfigure the FCM to enable the left and right trailer tow relay outputs. Dealers should apply these instructions to affected vehicles in their inventory. Dealers should also address any sold vehicles when they return to the dealership for routine service or repairs.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

Preliminary Steps

1. Using the Superscreen review the warranty repair history to determine if this procedure has already been completed. If a warranty claim indicates that the procedure has been previously completed do not continue with this Technical Service Bulletin.

Configure the FCM

Using the MUT-III change the status of the Trailer Tow Relay Outputs from Disabled to Enabled as follows:

1. Connect the MUT-III to the VCI using the USB 2.0 cable (MB991827). Connect the VCI to the data link connector of the vehicle using the MUT-III main harness A with the blue connector (MB991910) and turn on the ignition.

2. From the Raider STV main menu click System Select.

3. The VIN will be automatically input. Confirm that is correct.

4. Select FCM (Front Control/Central Gateway).

Click the check mark at the bottom of the screen.

5. Select Misc. Function.

6. Select Enable Trailer Tow Outputs.

Click the check mark at the bottom of the page.

7. This screen will appear advising:

"This routine will update the FCM/CGW configuration to either enable or disable the left and right trailer tow relay outputs. This is to only be used in conjunction with Mitsubishi's Trailer Tow Kit."

NOTE:
The 2008 Raider is not equipped with a tow kit, but it is factory equipped with the trailer wiring harness connector.

Click the check mark at the bottom of the screen to continue.

8. Confirm that the status is set to Enabled. If so, no further action is necessary. Click the Home icon at the bottom of the screen to return to the Main Menu.

If the status is set to Disabled, change it by clicking on the check mark.

Clicking the check mark will toggle the status between Enabled and Disabled.

9. After clicking the checkmark to change the status to enabled, this screen will appear advising:

"Trailer Tow Relay Outputs have been enabled. Cycle the ignition "Off' and then "On" and leave it in the "On" position for 10 seconds in order to update the CCN with the new configuration."

After waiting 10 seconds, click the check mark at the bottom of the screen.

10. This screen will appear advising that the status is now enabled. The procedure is complete. Click the Home icon to return to the Main Menu.
