PROCEDURE<The following equipment is needed to reprogram the PCM.
^ Battery Charger
^ VCI (Vehicle Communication Interface) - MB991824
^ Laptop computer - 520924 or 547708
^ MUT-III main harness A (blue) - MB991910
^ USB 2.0 cable - MB991827
^ "Engine Compartment/Control Module" labels - p/n MSSF024G00
^ MEDIC-II at version 5.6A or higher
^ Download M339 or higher
PRELIMINARY STEPS <
1. Check the underside of the hood to verify there is no label previously installed to indicate this reprogramming (TSB-10-23-001, TSB-08-23-005 or TSB-08-23-005REV) was already completed.
For MEDIC-II users only:
Verify that the MEDIC-II is at version 5.6 and at download M339 or higher.
a. If your MEDIC-II is at download M339 or higher, go to the Reprogramming Procedure.
b. If your MEDIC-II download is below M339, update your MEDIC-II as follows.
On the MEDIC-II main screen, click on "Maintenance".
Click on "Download". After the download completes, click on "Cancel" to exit the "Maintenance" window.
GO TO THE REPROGRAMMING PROCEDURE.
For Stand-alone MUT-III users only:
Check to see that your MUT-III version is at 22.0 or higher. If it is not at version 22.0 or higher, locate your MUT-III Scan Tool Viewer version 22.0 CD, and follow the instructions printed on the disc to update the laptop.
REPROGRAMMING PROCEDURE
BATTERY VOLTAGE MUST BE MAINTAINED BETWEEN 13.2 AND 13.5 VOLTS. CHECK THE CONDITION OF THE BATTERY AND CHARGE IT IF NECESSARY. CONNECT A BATTERY CHARGER SET TO CONTINUOUS CHARGE TO THE BATTERY. DO NOT ALLOW THE CHARGER TO "TIME OUT" DURING THE REPROGRAMMING PROCESS.
DO NOT ALLOW THE CHARGING VOLTAGE TO EXCEED 13.5 VOLTS DURING THE PROCESS.
1. Connect the equipment as follows:
a. Start the laptop computer.
b. Connect the USB cable to the VCI.
c. Connect the USB cable to the laptop.
d. Connect the blue MUT-III main harness to the VCI.
e. Connect the other end of the blue MUT-III main harness to the vehicle's data link connector.
f. Turn the VCI power switch ON. Verify that the indicator lamp in the upper right corner of the screen is green.
NOTE
If the USB cable is disconnected during this procedure, a warning message will display. Reconnect the cable and close the message display by clicking on the OK button.
2. Refer to the attachment at the end of this bulletin or the "Raider ECU Part Number & ECU Calibration" chart on the Mitsubishi Dealer Link in the Service Tech Resources page to identify the appropriate calibration for this programming.
3. In the Raider main menu, select Special Function.
4. Select ECU Reprogramming.
5. Select Automatic Reprogramming.
6. Select PCM.
Then click on the check mark at the bottom of the screen.
7. This window will pop up advising that the program will "Automatic search the data." Click on the check mark to continue.
8. Select the programming database (calibration) listed in the "New ECU P/N" that matches the New Part # column from the chart shown in this TSB.
Then click on the check mark at the bottom of the screen.
9. Click on the check mark to continue with reprogramming. It will take up to 10 minutes to complete reprogramming.
DO NOT DISTURB THE HARNESS CABLES OR CONNECTIONS. INTERRUPTION DURING PROGRAMMING REQUIRES THE PROCESS TO BE RESTARTED.
DO NOT SHUT DOWN THE RAIDER STV PROGRAM AT THIS POINT. ECU DAMAGE WILL OCCUR.
FOLLOW THE MUT-III SCREEN DISPLAY MESSAGES TO RESTART THE PROGRAMMING PROCESS.
10. When programming is complete, this screen will display. Turn the ignition key off.
You will then be prompted to turn it back on within 20 seconds.
After turning the key back on, click on the check mark to continue.
11. Then this screen will display (2007 CA 2WD spec part # shown). Be sure to note the new part number and confirm that it matches the part number from the chart shown in this TSB for the vehicle's specification.
12. Click on the check mark in the window to continue.
13. Click the "UP" arrow at the bottom left of the screen to return to the SPECIAL FUNCTIONS menu.
Clear all DTCs as follows:
1. Select All DTCs.
2. If DTCs are listed, click on the Erase button at the bottom of the screen.
The system will erase any DTCs listed and recheck to see if they return.
3. Verify that there are no DTCs listed. If DTCs are listed, diagnose per the Service Manual.
Click on the "Home" icon to return to the main page.
4. Using a ball-point pen, enter your dealer code, this TSB number (TSB-09-23-001) and the current date on the Engine Compartment / Control Module Label (part no. MSSF024G00). <
5. Carefully remove all dirt and oil from a vacant area near the VECI label located in the engine compartment, and affix the Engine Compartment label.
