Replacing All Keys

REPLACING ALL KEYS

NOTE:
OBTAINING THE SECURITY PERMISSION FILE AS DESCRIBED IN THIS TSB IS FOR VEHICLES SOLD IN THE UNITED STATES ONLY. DEALERS IN CANADA AND PUERTO RICO SHOULD REFER TO TRAINING MATERIALS.

If you do not have a registered F.A.S.T. Key transmitter you must obtain a security permission file through the MDL from your MEDIC.

THIS PROCEDURE WILL ONLY WORK FROM A MEDIC LAPTOP.

Download the Security Permission file.





1. Select the Mitsubishi Dealer Link tab on the MEDIC II.





2. Log into MDL.





3. From the MDL main page, Select "service," then "systems."





4. From the Systems page, select "Vehicle Information."





5. Select "Security Permission File."





6. Enter the 17 digit VIN and click "Search key info."





7. This screen will display advising that "Permission file was successfully downloaded."

The file will be downloaded to MEDIC and placed in the proper folder for key registration.

To cut the emergency key, obtain the key code from the Superscreen.

Register F.A.S.T. Keys to the Vehicle

Without a registered key, the ignition cannot be put into the ON position. You must engage "Forced Power Mode" using MUT-III to place the ignition in the ON position for key registration to be completed.

Engaging "Forced Power" Mode Using MUT-III

1. Open the driver's door and leave it open.

2. Connect the cable with the blue DLC connector to the vehicle.





3. From the main page, click the MUT-III STV icon at the top center of the screen.

4. From the Main page, click "System select."





5. Scroll to and select "OSS."

Click OK (check mark) at the bottom of the screen.





6. If a door is not left open, this window will display advising that MUT-III cannot communicate with the ECM.





7. Select "Special Function."





8. Select "Forced power supply output."





9. Select IG-ON from the pull down menu and click OK (check mark) at the bottom of the page.

A window will display asking you to confirm the command will be executed.

Click OK (check mark) in the window.

10. This window will display advising that the command was executed. Confirm that the LED in the engine start/stop switch is amber and flashing.

Click OK (check mark) in the window to clear it.





11. Click the HOME icon at the bottom left corner of the screen to return to the "Main Menu".

Key Registration Steps

1. From the MUT-III Main Menu click on System Select.





2. If the VIN or vehicle description displayed does not match the vehicle you are working on click on the car icon at the bottom of the page.





3. Click the eraser icon at the bottom of the page.

4. Select VIN by clicking on the VIN button.





5. Click on the icon in the lower RH corner of the screen to have the MUT-III automatically read the VIN. If a message appears saying that the VIN cannot be input automatically manually type the 17 digit VIN into the VIN field at the top of the page.

Make sure the VIN is correct and click OK (check mark).





6. Confirm that all data is correct and click OK (check mark) at the bottom of the page.





7. Return to the System Select menu. Scroll and select F.A.S.T./Immob/Keyless/TPMS.

A "Loading options menu" will display in the screen.

Select "VF3 - Immo.&F.A.S.T.&TPMS." Click OK (check mark) at the bottom of the page.





8. Select "Special Function."





9. Select "F.A.S.T. Key Registration."

10. When the Security Info Check screen is displayed, insert a NEW F.A.S.T. key transmitter into the key box in the glovebox.

Click the OK (check mark) button.

IMPORTANT:
You must always use NEW keys. Immobilzer information is permanently stored and cannot be changed.





11. A Security Info Check - Completed window will display advising an "approval file for security code" is required for FAST key registration.





Click OK (check mark) in the window to clear it.





12. A FAST key registration screen will appear.

Click the security info obtainment button at the bottom center of the screen.

DO NOT remove the FAST key transmitter from the key box.





13. This window will display when the FAST key has been registered to the vehicle.

14. If you have additional keys to register, insert them one at a time within 60 seconds of completing the prior key.

Click OK (check mark) to clear the window and follow the on-screen instructions until all F.A.S.T. keys have been registered.

For each key added, the "Present registration number" will increase.
This should match the number of keys you've registered to the vehicle.

15. When you have completed registering keys, click cancel (X) to clear the window.

16. Click OK (check mark) at the bottom of the screen





17. Return to the System Select menu. Scroll to and select "OSS"

18. Click OK (check mark) at the bottom of the screen.

19. Select "Special Function"





20. Select "Forced power supply output (stop)."





21. Confirm "Forced power supply output (stop)" is selected in the pull-down menu.

Click OK (check mark) at the bottom of the screen





22. This window will display advising "The selected command will be executed."

Click OK (check mark) in the window








23. This window will display advising "The command was executed."

Click OK (check mark) in the window.

24. Click the HOME icon in the lower left corner of the screen

25. Click the Triple Diamond in the lower left corner of the screen to close MUT-III.

26. Disconnect the MUT-III from the vehicle.

27. Verify that all keys function correctly.
