Inspection Procedure 1: The sunshade does not work.
CAUTION:
Before replacing the ECU, ensure that the power supply circuit, the ground circuit and the communication circuit are normal.
COMMENT ON TROUBLE SYMPTOM
The sunshade switch itself, the power supply circuit system of sunshade motor assembly, the ground circuit, or the sunshade motor assembly itself may have a problem.
PROBABLE CAUSES
- Malfunction of the sunshade motor assembly
- Malfunction of the sunshade switch
- Damaged harness wires and connectors
DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Scan tool data list
Check the ETACS-ECU service data related to the sunshade operation.
- Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
OK: Normal conditions are displayed for all the items.
Q. Is the check result normal?
YES Go to Step 2.
NO Inspection Procedure 2.
STEP 2. Connector check: E-15 sunshade switch connector
Q. Is the check result normal?
YES Go to Step 3.
NO Repair the damaged connector.
STEP 3. Sunshade switch check
Refer to Sunshade Switch Check Sunshade Switch Check.
Q. Is the sunshade switch normal?
YES Go to Step 4.
NO Replace the sunshade switch.
STEP 4. Resistance measurement at E-15 sunshade switch connector
(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure the resistance at the wiring harness-side connector.
(2)Measure the resistance between E-15 sunshade switch connector terminal No. 4 and body ground.
OK: Continuity exists (2ohms or less)
Q. Is the check result normal?
YES Go to Step 6.
NO Go to Step 5.
STEP 5. Wiring harness check between E-15 sunshade switch connector terminal No. 4 and body ground
- Check the ground wires for open circuit.
Q. Is the check result normal?

NO Repair the wiring harness.
STEP 6. Connector check: E-11 sunshade motor assembly connector
Q. Is the check result normal?
YES Go to Step 7.
NO Repair the damaged connector.
STEP 7. Resistance measurement at E-11 sunshade motor assembly connector
(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure the resistance at the wiring harness-side connector.
(2)Measure the resistance between E-11 sunshade motor assembly connector terminal No. 3 and body ground.
OK: Continuity exists (2ohms or less)
Q. Is the check result normal?
YES Go to Step 9.
NO Go to Step 8.
STEP 8. Wiring harness check between E-11 sunshade motor assembly connector terminal No. 3 and body ground
- Check the ground wires for open circuit.
Q. Is the check result normal?

NO Repair the wiring harness.
STEP 9. Voltage measurement at E-11 sunshade motor assembly connector
(1)Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position.
(2)Disconnect the connector, and measure the voltage at the wiring harness-side connector.
(3)Measure the voltage at E-11 sunshade motor assembly connector terminal No.10.
(4)OK: Battery voltage
Q. Is the check result normal?
YES Go to Step 11.
NO Go to Step 10.
STEP 10. Check the wiring harness between E-11 sunshade motor assembly connector terminal No. 10 and C-417 ETACS-ECU connector terminal No. 5.
NOTE:
Before the wiring harness check, check C-226 intermediate connector and C-04 joint connector (2), then repair if necessary.
- Check the power supply line for open circuit and short circuit.
Q. Is the check result normal?

NO Repair the wiring harness.
STEP 11. Voltage measurement at E-11 sunshade motor assembly connector
(1)Disconnect the connector, and measure the voltage at the wiring harness-side connector.
(2)Measure the voltage at E-11 sunshade motor assembly connector terminal No.4.
(3)OK: Battery voltage
Q. Is the check result normal?
YES Go to Step 13.
NO Go to Step 12.
STEP 12. Wiring harness check between sunshade motor assembly connector terminal No. 4 and fusible link
NOTE:
Before the wiring harness check, check C-408 and C-416 ETACS-ECU connectors, and repair if necessary.
- Check the power supply line for open circuit and short circuit.
Q. Is the check result normal?

NO Repair the wiring harness.
STEP 13. Retest the system.
Check that the sunshade lid works normally.
Q. Is the check result normal?

NO Replace the sunshade motor assembly.
