Auxiliary Air Valve (Idle Speed): Testing and Inspection
Thermal - Wax Valve:
1. Start the engine and warm to operating temperature.
2. Make sure the aligning mark stamped "A" on the fast idle cam meets the center of the roller on the cam follower lever.
a. If it does, the thermo wax valve is O.K.. END TEST.
b. If it does not, proceed to step 3.
3. Correct the location of the fast idle cam by turning screw "S1".
a. If it will adjust properly, the thermo wax valve is O.K. END TEST.
b. If it will not adjust, replace the thermo wax valve and proceed to step 4.
4. Refer to COMPONENT REPAIR AND REPLACEMENT PROCEDURES and proceed to ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURES and perform FAST IDLE ADJUSTMENT.
