Engine Controls - Engine Runs Rough And DTC P0335 Stored

IF YOU CONFIRM

DTC P0335 CKP SENSOR (POS) - Crankshaft Position Sensor - is stored,

and

When the DTC is erased, it resets immediately with the engine running,

and

The engine runs rough.

ACTIONS

Make sure the Crankshaft Position Sensor and the Camshaft Position Sensor are installed in the correct locations.





NOTE:
^ The Crankshaft Position Sensor and Camshaft Position Sensor look identical (see Figure 1).

^ When servicing / repairing the vehicle, or during a previous repair, it's possible to install these sensors in the wrong locations:

> Locations swapped, or

> Two of the same sensor installed

Refer to the sensor identification information below.

CAMSHAFT / CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR IDENTIFICATION INFORMATION

^ The Crankshaft Position Sensor is located at the lower front of the transmission.





^ The Camshaft Position Sensor is located at the front of the driver side cylinder head (Bank 1).





NOTE:
2007 to 2009 Applied Vehicles are equipped with Intake Valve Timing Control Position Sensors (Bank 1 and Bank 2). These sensors are identical to the Camshaft Position Sensor. All three sensors shown in Figure 3 use the same Nissan Part Number.

^ Refer to the Nissan parts system (FAST or equivalent) to get the appropriate sensor Part Number for the model year vehicle you are working on.





^ To identify a Crankshaft or Camshaft position sensor that has been removed from its package, compare the sensor to Figures 4 and 5.
