Removal

1. Turn compressor upside down and drain oil through suction valve.

2. Using suitable tool, remove five rear end cover attaching bolts. Starting at top, loosen all bolts one turn in an alternating pattern, Fig. 6, then remove bolts in turn.
3. Grasp rear end cover and carefully separate it from compressor. Tap flange lightly and alternately as required with suitable hammer. Do not tap on compressor shaft.
4. Remove and discard three O-rings.
5. Remove rear cylinder head, suction valve plate, gasket, two pins, and O-ring. Discard gasket. Carefully remove suction valve plate, avoiding deformation.
6. If removal proves difficult, use tool No. KV994C5785 or equivalent. Insert this tool into hole in cylinder head. With nut in firm contact with back side of cylinder head, tighten bolt slowly to break loose head.
7. Check all surfaces and valves for damage and repair or replace as necessary.
