Distributor Disassembly

Exploded View:

1. Remove distributor from vehicle.

Distributor Cap And Rotor:

2. Remove distributor cap and rotor.

Vacuum Advance Removal And Installation:

3. Remove vacuum advance unit from distributor.

Harness Removal And Installation:

4. Remove wiring harness from distributor housing.

Distributor Reluctor Removal:

5. Using two flat blade screw drivers, remove reluctor from distributor shaft. Remove roll pin from reluctor.

CAUTION: Do not distort or damage reluctor during removal.

Breaker Plate Assembly:

6. Remove breaker plate assembly.

Breaker Plate, Control Unit Assembly:

7. Remove IC ignition module and spacers from breaker plate.

Breaker Plate, Stator And Magnet Disassembly:

8. Remove magnet and stator from breaker plate.

Roll Pin Removal:

9. Using a properly sized punch, remove roll pin from distributor housing. Remove collar.

Distributor Shaft Assembly:

10. Remove distributor shaft assembly from housing.

Rotor Shaft Removal:

11. Remove packing from top of rotor shaft. Remove rotor shaft retaining screw. Remove rotor shaft.

Centrifugal Weight Assembly:

12. Remove centrifugal weights and springs from shaft assembly.
