Herberts Standox Procedure
Bumper Cover Preparation PP (polypropylene)
1. Bake for 60 minutes at l40°F (60°C) to temper the plastic.
2. Clean the product several times using a Gray Scotchbrite pad and Standoflex 11100 Thinner anti-static cleaner (use a clean pad and fresh thinner with each cleaning.).
3. Allow to dry completely.
4. As a final clean before priming, use fresh Standoflex 11100 Thinner anti-static cleaner with a clean towel.
Bumper Cover Preparation PUR (polyurethane)
1. Bake for 60 minutes at 140°F (60°C) to temper the plastic.
2. Clean the plastic several times using a Gray Scotchbrite pad and Standoflex 11100 Thinner anti-static cleaner. Use a clean pad and fresh thinner with each cleaning.
3. Re-temper for 20 minutes at 140°F (600 C).
4. Apply Stopper if necessary (3M 5900).
5. Apply. Standox Pore Filler on PUR foam.
6. As a final clean before priming, use fresh Standoflex 11100 Thinner anti-static cleaner with a clean towel.
Coating PP (polypropylene) bumper covers
5. Mix Standoflex 118162K Plastic Filler 1:1 with 11824 2K Plastic Filler Hardener.
6. Spray 2 coats of the mixture onto the bumper cover.
7. Let stand for 20 minutes.
8a. NON-Basecoat/Clearcoat colors
1. Mix 2K Standocryl (Single Stage) with 30% 2K Elastic Additive.
2. Add 2K Hardener and Thinner.
3. Apply 2 coats.
8b. Basecoat/Clearcoat colors
1. Apply Standox Basecoat.
2. Mix Standox 2K Clear with 30% 2K Elastic Additive.
3. Add 2K Hardener and Thinner.
4. Apply 1 or 2 coats (depending on Clear being used).
Coating PUR (polyurethane) bumper covers
7. Mix Standoflex 118162K Plastic Filler 1:1 with 118242K Plastic Filler Hardener.
8. Spray 2 coats of the mixture onto the bumper cover.
9. Let stand for 20 minutes.
1Oa. NON-Basecoat Clearcoat colors
1. Mix 2K Standocryl (Single Stage) with 100% 2K Elastic Additive.
2. Add 2K Hardener and Thinner.
3. Apply 2 coats.
10b. Basecoat/Clearcoat colors
1. Apply Standox Basecoat.
2. Mix Standox 2K Clear with 100% 2K Elastic Additive.
3. Add 2K Hardener and Thinner.
4. Apply 1 or 2 coats (depending on Clear being used).
