Oil Level Check

1. Operate compressor at engine idle speed with controls set for maximum cooling and high blower speed for 20 to 30 minutes.
2. Stop engine and discharge air conditioning system using a suitable recovery system.
3. Remove compressor from vehicle.
4. On Pulsar, 1989-90 Sentra and 1989-90 Stanza models, drain compressor oil from compressor discharge port and measure the amount.
5. On Pulsar, 1989-90 Sentra and 1989-90 Stanza models, if drained amount is less than 3 ounces, oil level is low, add 3 ounces of new oil. If drained amount is 3 ounces or more, oil level is right, add same amount of oil that was drained out.
4. On Axxess, 1989-90 Maxima and 1990 300ZX models, drain compressor oil from compressor oil sump and measure the amount.
5. On Axxess, 1989-90 Maxima and 1990 300ZX models, if drained amount is less than 4.4 ounces, oil level is low, add 4.4 ounces of new oil. If drained amount is 4.4 ounces or more, oil level is right, add same amount of oil that was drained out.
6. On all models, if drained amount is much greater than normal circumstances, flush system with refrigerant, then add 6.8 ounces of oil to system.
7. If oil contains chips or other foreign material after system has been flushed with refrigerant, replace receiver drier, then add 6.8 ounces of oil into system.
