1. Release fuel system pressure as outlined under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE.
2. Drain cooling system.
3. Mark then remove hood.
4. Disconnect and remove battery.
5. Remove engine coolant reservoir tank and brackets.
6. Remove drive belts.
7. Remove alternator, compressor and power steering pump from engine. Position component out of the way without disconnecting hoses.
8. Disconnect fuel and vacuum hoses, wire harness and connectors as necessary.
9. Remove front tire assemblies.
10. Remove engine undercover and splash shields.
11. Remove brake caliper assembly without disconnection hoses and support from frame using suitable wire.
12. Disconnect tie rod ball joint from knuckle.
13. On manual transmission models, disconnect control rod and support rod from transaxle.
14. On automatic transmission models, disconnect control cable.
15. On all models, with engine properly supported, remove center member, front exhaust tube & stabilizer bar, Fig. 3.
16. Remove radiator fan and radiator assembly.
17. Disconnect front mounting bracket.
18. Remove air duct and disconnect or remove all engine mounts.
19. Lower engine and transmission out of engine compartment ensuring not to hit it against adjacent parts.
20. Reverse procedure to install, adjusting buffer rod as shown in Fig. 4.
