REMANUFACTURED ENGINE LUBRICATION UPON INITIAL START UP

APPLIED VEHICLE: All Nissan vehicles having a remanufactured engine installed

SERVICE INFORMATION

During remanufactured engine storage, upper engine lubrication may dissipate/disperse. Camshaft scoring or seizure may occur at initial start up unless the procedure below is followed.

1. Refer to the MA section of the applicable Electronic Service Manual (ESM) to determine the specified volume of oil required to fill both the crankcase and filter.

2. Set one (1) quart of oil aside and fill the crankcase with the remaining quantity (one quart should remain unused).

3. Prior to initial engine start up, pour the one (1) remaining quart of oil into the valve cover.

^ It is recommended to quickly squeeze the quart of oil out of the container to "flood" the camshafts and cam bearings.

4. Immediately start the engine while the upper end is "flooded" with oil.
