Pulsed Secondary Air Injection (Pair)

Pulsed Secondary Air Injection (PAIR) System Input/Output Chart:

PURPOSE

To provide additional air in the exhaust system, promoting better catalytic efficiency and reduced emissions.

LOCATION

The ECM is on the floor under the passenger's seat. All PAIR units (Control Solenoid, PAIR Valve Case and plumbing) are all on the driver's side of the engine compartment.

OPERATION

The ECM will supply a ground to the PAIR Solenoid when the following conditions are met:

^ Engine is at idle or decel
^ engine coolant temperature is between 82 deg F. and 239 deg. F. (28 - 115 deg C.)

When the solenoid is grounded, vacuum will pass to the PAIR Valve case.

For additional information on the PAIR system, refer to EMISSION CONTROL DEVICES.
