Water Separator Kit Installation Procedure
1. Remove the hose between the EVAP canister vent control valve and the frame member (see Figure 23). Discard the plastic elbow connector and hose (largest diameter hose).
2. Assemble the 2 hoses supplied in the kit onto the water separator (see Figure 24).
3. Drill a 5.5 mm (7/32 inch) hole in the vehicle right rear frame rail (lower side). The location of the hole is 205 mm (8 inches) from the end of the frame rail (where the rear bumper attaches) and centered side-to-side (see Figure 25).
NOTE:
After drilling, apply a protective coating to the hole (Tectyl(R) 517 Bitumen Wax # 999MP-9G001 or equivalent).
4. Install the water separator (with hoses) to the frame rail using the kit supplied self tapping screw (see Figure 25).
5. Install the short hose (with the plastic connector elbow on the end) in the frame member hole that the original hose was removed from (see Figure 25).
6. Reconnect the 2 smaller diameter hoses to the EVAP canister. Connect the kit supplied larger diameter hose (from the water separator) to the EVAP canister vent control valve (no clamp is required).
7. Reconnect the EVAP vent control valve electrical harness.
8. Reinstall the spare tire.
Quality Control Check
1. Make sure all removed components are correctly reinstalled.
2. Start the engine and check all fuel hoses/connections for leaks.
3. Use CONSULT to check/erase any stored DTC(s).
4. Attach CONSULT Self Diagnosis printout to repair order.
