Preliminary Steps:1. Write down all radio station presets.
2. Remove any accessory (phone chapter 12V Power Outlet(s)
WARNING:
^ Do NOT use a Computer Memory (9-volt power source), that into the 12V Power Outlet(s), to retain memory settings on the computer and radio
^ No voltage should be present in the system when performing this procedure
3. Disconnect both battery cables
4. Wait 3 minutes before proceeding with the following steps.
Reposition Driver's SRS Air Bag Module
5. Using a screwdriver, carefully removing left and right plastic screw. This will allow you to reach the Air Bag Module Mounting Screws (see Figure 1).
6. Remove the two Air Bag Module Mounting Screws (see Figure 2).
NOTE:
Some vehicles have optional Security Screws (see example in Figure 2). You will have to use the special tool to remove these screws.
7. Carefully move the Air Bag Module rearward enough to disconnect the Audio Controls Wire Harness Connector (if equipped). See Figure 3.
Install Connector Clips:
8. Press the black Lock Button on each Air Bag Module Harness Connector see Figure 4) to make sure the connector is locked onto the Air Bag Module.
9. Install a Connector Clip (supplied in the Kit) on each Air Bag Module Harness Connector (see Figure 5).
IMPORTANT:
Make sure the Connector Clips are fully seated and locked onto each Air Bag Module Harness Connector. Push down on the lop of each clip once they are installed to make sure they are fully "seated".
10. Apply the piece of tape (supplied in the kit) over the Connector Clips (see Figure 6). This will prevent the edges of the Connector Clips from damaging other wires.
Re-assembly:
11. Re-connect the Audio Controls Harness Connector (if equipped). See Figure 3.
12. Re-install the Air Bag Module to the Steering Wheel using the new screws supplied in the kit (see Figure 2). Tighten the new screws to: 71 - 115 in-lb.
13. Re-install the left and right Screw Covers (see Figure 1).
Check Air Bag Module Warning Light (on Instrument Panel):
CAUTION:
Make sure the ignition key is in the OFF position and all doors are closed before reconnecting the battery cables (next step).
14. Re-connect both battery cables.
15. From the passenger side, turn the ignition key to the ON position.
a. If the Air Bag Module Warning Light turns OFF after 5 - 7 seconds, proceed to "Final Steps".
b. If the Air Bag Module Warning Light does NOT turn ON at first, does NOT turn OFF, or blinks, refer to the applicable Service Manual for diagnosis/repair. Then proceed to "Final Steps".
Final Steps:
16. Re-program all radio station presets.
17. Re-set the clock.
18. Use CONSULT-II to clear any related DTC codes.
