Fuel Filter: Service and Repair
Changing Fuel FilterWARNING: Before removing fuel filter, release fuel pressure from fuel line.
WITH CONSULT - II
1. Start engine.
2. Perform "FUEL PRESSURE RELEASE" in "WORK SUPPORT" mode to release fuel pressure to zero.
3. After engine stalls, crank engine two or three times to make sure that fuel pressure is released.
4. Turn ignition switch "OFF".
5. Remove the fuel filter shield.
6. Loosen fuel hose clamps.
7. Replace fuel filter.
^ Use a high-pressure type fuel filter. Do not use a synthetic resinous fuel filter.
8. Tighten fuel hose clamps.
Fuel hose clamps: 1.0 - 1.5 Nm (0.1 - 0.15 kg-m, 8.7 - 13.0 inch lbs.)
CAUTION: Tighten high-pressure rubber hose clamp so that clamp end is 3 mm (0.12 inch) from hose end.
Tightening torque specifications are the same for all rubber hose clamps.
Ensure that the screw does not contact adjacent parts.
WITHOUT CONSULT - II
1. Remove fuel pump fuse.
For correct fuse location, refer to label on fuse block cover.
2. Start engine.
3. After engine stalls, crank engine two or three times to make sure that fuel pressure is released.
4. Turn ignition switch "OFF" and install fuel pump fuse.
5. Remove the fuel filter shield.
6. Loosen fuel hose clamps.
7. Replace fuel filter.
^ Use a high-pressure type fuel filter. Do not use a synthetic resinous fuel filter.
8. Tighten fuel hose clamps.
Fuel hose clamps: 1.0 - 1.5 Nm (0.1 - 0.15 kg-m, 8.7 - 13.0 inch lbs.)
