Procedure G: ABS Sensor Re-Seal

1. Use a clean, lint-free shop rag to thoroughly clean the ABS sensor, especially around the 0-ring sealing surface (flange). See Figure G1.

2. Apply some Nissan Brake Cleaner to a clean, lint-free shop rag and clean the ABS sensor hole (see Figure G2).

NOTE:
Do NOT use a wire brush for cleaning the ABS sensor hole or flange/O-ring sealing surface, to prevent corrosion powder / debris from entering the axle bearing area.

NOTE:
If needed, thoroughly clean the flange/O-ring sealing surface of the ABS sensor hole with a scraper ONLY.

3. Install the new 0-ring onto the ABS sensor so that it is fully seated against the "flange" portion of the sensor (see Figure G3).

4. Apply a 1/8" bead of "ThreeBond" (# 1530) sealant all the way around the ABS sensor 0-ring as shown in Figure G4.

5. Re-insert the ABS sensor into its hole. Make sure it is fully seated against the axle "mating" surface (see Figure G5).

6. Install the new ABS sensor hold-down bracket using the new longer bolt. Both of these items are in the kit. (See Figure G6).

IMPORTANT:
You MUST use the new longer bolt when installing the sensor.

7. Tighten the new bolt to 13 - 17 ft-lbs.

8. Road test at 15 - 20 MPH and make sure the ABS sensor light goes out.

^ The repair is now complete.
