Disassembly of Differential Case (With LSD)

DISASSEMBLY OF DIFFERENTIAL CASE (WITH LSD)

Checking Differential Torque





^ Measure differential torque with Tool.
Differential torque: 40 - 58 Nm (4 - 6 kg-m, 29 - 43 ft. lbs.)
Tool numbers: KV38105110 ( - )
Tool number B: KV38105120 ( - )
^ If it is not within the specifications, inspect components of limited slip differential.





Disassembly





1. Remove side bearing inner cones.
^ To prevent damage to bearing, engage puller jaws in groove.
Tool number A: ST33051001 (J22888-20)
Tool number B: ST33061000 (J8107-2)

2. Loosen ring gear bolts in a crisscross pattern.





3. Tap ring gear off gear case with a soft hammer.
^ Tap evenly all around to keep ring gear from binding.





4. Remove couple bolts on differential cases A and B with a press.
Tool number: ST33081000 (-)
5. Separate differential case A and B.
6. Remove component parts (discs and plates, etc.).
^ Put matchmarks on gears and pressure rings so that they can be reinstalled in their original positions from which they are removed.
