Service Procedure
SERVICE PROCEDURE1. Make sure the following items are installed in the C-III PC
^ CONSULT-III Card Adapter
^ CONSULT-III Security Card
NOTE:
Make sure the CONSULT-III Security Card and Card Adapter are facing UP as shown in Figure 1. Refer to the CONSULT-III Start-up Guide (included with the C-Ill kit) for additional information on installing and removing these items.
2. Connect the Vehicle Interface (VI) to the vehicle, then to the C-III PC using the USB cable.
3. Connect the AC Adapter to the C-III PC.
4. Confirm the vehicle ignition is OFF.
5. Confirm the steering wheel is locked.
6. Turn ON the hazard lamps.
7. Turn ON the C-III PC.
NOTE:
If you get a "Found New Hardware Wizard" message, select "Next" and then "Finish".
8. Start CONSULT-III.
9. Wait for the "Detecting VI/MI in progress" message to clear.
10. Select the code under "Detected VI List". (See Figure 2.)
11. Select Connect.
12. Wait for the "Checking the firmware version" message to clear.
13. Select the applicable vehicle from the list-Altima sedan or hybrid. (See Figure 3.)
^ The VIN will not be displayed because the ignition is OFF.
14. Select Select.
15. Make sure the correct vehicle is displayed. (See Figure 4.)
16. Select Confirm.
17. Wait for System Call and CAN Diagnosis.
NOTE:
When the CAN Diagnosis progress bar reaches more than 51 %, the on screen icons will light up and you can proceed with the next step.
18. Select the "Repair" icon. (See Figure 5.)
19. Select the "Electronically Repair" icon. (See Figure 6.)
20. Select the "Immobilizer" icon. (See Figure 7.)
21. Select Start. (See Figure 8.)
22. Select PIN READ. (See Figure 9.)
23. Hold the Vehicle Interface (VI) "right side up" and watch the third LED from the left as you perform the next step (#24).
24. Select Next - the third LED should flash green.
^ If the third LED flashes red the BCM is not 'awake'.
^ ONLY if the BCM is not 'awake': a. Unplug and reconnect the VI DLC. b. Close the C-III program. C. Go back to Step 1 above and restart this procedure.
25. Write down the PIN number displayed on the screen. (See Figure 10.)
26. Minimize the C-III screen. Do this by clicking on the [_] box in the upper right corner of the C-III screen. (See Figure 10.)
NOTE:
^ Steps 27 to 33 require your C-III PC to be connected to the Internet.
^ These steps can also be done at your desktop ASIST.
27. Open ASIST.
28. In ASIST, select INFO Tool Box
29. Select NATS Decoder
30. Select All Other Vehicles
31. Enter the PIN number you wrote down in Step 25. (See Figure 12.)
32. Select Submit. (See Figure 12.)
33. The password / new code will display. Write down this number and close ASIST.
34. Maximize the C-III screen. Do this by clicking on "CONSULT-III" at the bottom of your screen. (See Figure 13.)
35. Select END. (See Figure 14.)
36. Select STEERING LOCK RELEASE. (See Figure 15.)
37. Select Next.
38. Touch the password input area to activate the cursor. (See Figure 16.)
39. Enter the password / new code you wrote down in Step 33.
NOTE:
Once you perform the next step (#40), all registered Intelligent Keys will be erased.
40. Select Start. (See Figure 16.)
^ You should hear the steering lock release (click noise).
^ All registered Intelligent Keys are now unregistered.
41. The screen should indicate that the STEER-LOCK RELEASE is COMPLETED. (See Figure 17.)
NOTE:
^ If you have previously performed this step but you did not complete the key registration process, the screen will display "INCOMPLETE".
^ If "INCOMPLETE" is displayed, skip to step 43 below and continue with the procedure.
42. Select END.
43. Insert an Intelligent Key into the lower dashboard key slot. (See Figure 18.)
NOTE:
Make sure to insert the key with the Nissan emblem towards the front of the vehicle.
44. Turn OFF the hazard lamps.
45. DO NOT depress the brake, press the ignition button one time (not two):
The ignition will turn ON.
46. Select the HOME icon.
47. Wait for the "Detecting VI/MI in progress" message to clear.
48. Select the code under "Detected VI List". (See Figure 20.)
49. Select Connect.
50. Wait for the "Checking the firmware version" message to clear.
51. Select the applicable vehicle from the list (Altima Sedan or Hybrid). (See Figure 21.)
NOTE:
The VIN should display.
52. Select Select.
53. Make sure the correct vehicle is displayed. (See Figure 22.)
54. Select Confirm.
55. Wait for System Call and CAN Diagnosis.
NOTE:
When the CAN Diagnosis progress bar reaches more than 51 %, the on screen icons will light up and you can proceed with the next step.
56. Select the "Repair" icon. (See Figure 23)
58. Select the "Electronically Repair" icon. (See Figure 24.)
59. Select the "Immobilizer" icon. (See Figure 25.)
60. Select Start. (See Figure 26.)
61. Select C/U INITIALIZATION. (See Figure 27.)
62. Select Next.
63. Touch the password input area to activate the cursor. (See Figure 28.)
64. Enter the password / new code you wrote down in Step 33.
65. Select Start.
66. The screen should indicate that initialization is completed. (See Figure 29.)
67. Select END.
68. Remove the Intelligent Key from the key slot; the ignition will turn OFF.
69. Insert any Intelligent Key into the key slot.
70. DO NOT depress the brake.
NOTE:
When you perform the next step the Security Indicator Light should flash five (5) times.
71. Press the ignition button one time (not two): The ignition will turn ON.
72. The Security Indicator Light will flash five (5) times; this indicates the Intelligent Key registered successfully; go to Step 73 below.
^ If the Security Indicator Light stays ON without flashing, the Intelligent Key in the key slot is NG.
> Remove the NG key from the key slot; the ignition will turn OFF.
> Replace the NG key with another new key.
> Go back to Step 69 and continue with the key registration process.
NOTE:
^ If you have two intelligent keys that perform as NG (security Indicator Light stays ON without flashing) it is most likely that one of the steps in the Service Procedure has not been completed correctly.
^ Go back to Step 1 and restart the procedure.
^ All steps in the procedure must be completed as written.
73. Remove the Intelligent Key from the key slot: The ignition will turn OFF.
74. IMPORTANT: Keep the registered key(s) separate from the un-registered key(s).
75. Insert the next Intelligent Key into the key slot.
76. DO NOT depress the brake.
NOTE:
When you perform the next step the Security Indicator Light should flash five (5) times.
77. Press the ignition button one time (not two): The ignition will turn ON.
78. The Security Indicator light will flash five (5) times: This indicates the Intelligent Key registered successful; go to Step 79.
^ If the Security Indicator Light stays ON without flashing, the Intelligent Key in the key slot is NG.
> Remove the NG key from the key slot; the ignition will turn OFF.
> Replace the NG key with another new key.
> Go back to step 75 and continue with the key registration process.
79. Remove the Intelligent Key from the key slot: The ignition will turn OFF.
80. IMPORTANT: Keep the registered key(s) separate from the un-registered. key(s).
81. If you have more than 2 Intelligent Keys, repeat steps 75 - 80 for remaining keys.
82. Once all of the Intelligent Keys have been registered, reinsert any one of the registered keys into the key slot.
83. Do Not press the brake.
NOTE:
When you perform the next step the Security Indicator light should NOT flash.
84. Press the ignition button only one time (not two): Ignition will turn ON.
85. The Security Indicator light Should Not Flash: This indicates the registration process is complete.
NOTE:
When you perform the next step the Key Light should flash five (5) times.
86. Press the ignition button only one time (not two): Ignition will turn OFF.
87. The Key Light will flash 5 times, and you will hear the steering lock engage (click noise).
^ This indicates the key registration mode is complete and the vehicle is now in normal mode.
88. Remove the Intelligent Key from the key slot.
89. Make sure each Intelligent Key will start the vehicle and all of the remote functions on each key work correctly.
NOTE:
It is recommended that you move all Intelligent Keys more than 15 feet away from the vehicle, then bring one key at a time to the vehicle and make sure that it starts the vehicle and all other remote functions work correctly.
90. Once you have confirmed that all of the registered keys function correctly:
^ The key registration service is complete.
^ Disconnect C-III from the vehicle.
91. Make the old Intelligent Keys unusable.
^ Cut through the edge of the Intelligent Key near the Nissan emblem as shown.
NOTE:
The Intelligent Keys should be disposed of in accordance with local and state regulations.
