Service Procedure
SERVICE PROCEDUREPerform the following steps before installing a new BCM:
1. Connect the Vehicle Interface (VI) to the vehicle, then to the Toughbook PC using the USB cable.
2. Connect the AC Adapter to the Toughbook PC.
3. Press the vehicle ignition to the ON position.
^ DO NOT depress the brake while performing this step.
4. Turn ON the Toughbook PC.
5. Start CONSULT-III.
6. Wait for the "Detecting VI/MI in progress" message to clear.
7. Select the detected VI from the list. (See Figure 1.)
8. Select Connect. (See Figure 1.)
9. Wait for the "Checking the firmware version" message to clear.
10. Select the applicable vehicle from the list. (See Figure 2.)
11. Select Select. (See Figure 2).
12. Make sure the correct vehicle is displayed. (See Figure 3.)
13. Select Confirm. (See Figure 3.)
14. Wait for the System Call and CAN Diagnosis to complete.
15. Select the "Repair" icon. (See Figure 4.)
16. Select the "Electronic Repair" icon. (See Figure 5.)
17. Select BCM. (See Figure 6.)
18. In the pop-up window, select BCM. (See Figure 7.)
19. Select OK. (See Figure 7.)
20. Select OK. (See Figure 8.)
21. Select the "Configuration" icon. (See Figure 9.)
22. Select OK. (See Figure 10.)
23. Select READ CONFIGURATION. (See Figure 11.)
24. Select Next. (See Figure 11.)
25. Write down or print out all the manual setting items and values. (See Figure 12.)
^ If a printer is configured to the CONSULT-III PC:
^ Print the manual setting items and values by selecting Print. (See Figure 12.)
^ If a printer is not configured to the CONSULT-III PC:
^ Clearly write down each manual setting item and value on lined paper. It is VERY IMPORTANT that this information is easy to read and correct.
26. Select Auto setting item. (See Figure 12.)
27. Write down or print out all the auto setting items and values. (See Figure 13.)
^ If a printer is configured to the CONSULT-III PC:
^ Print the manual setting items and values by selecting Print. (See Figure 13.)
^ If a printer is not configured to the CONSULT-III PC:
^ Clearly write down each auto setting item and value on lined paper. It is VERY IMPORTANT that this information is easy to read and correct.
28. Select End. (See Figure 13.)
29. Attach all of the information you have just written down or printed out to the repair order.
30. Close CONSULT-III.
31. Disconnect the VI from the vehicle.
32. Replace the BCM. Refer to the Body Control System / BCM / Removal and Installation section of the applicable Service Manual.
33. With the new BCM installed, perform the Intelligent Key registration procedure in service bulletin NTB06-094.
34. Insert any Intelligent Key into the lower dashboard key slot.
35. Perform steps 1-22 of this bulletin again.
36. Select WRITE CONFIGURATION - Manual setting. (See Figure 14.)
37. Select Next. (See Figure 14.)
38. Configure the new BCM using the manual setting items and values you wrote down or printed out in step 25.
For each entry in the Item column:
a) Click on the drop-down menu directly across from it in the Value column. (See Figure 15.)
b) Select the appropriate value using the information written down or printed out.
39. When the values have been set, select Setting change. (See Figure 15.)
40. Confirm all of the values are correct. (See Figure 16.)
41. Select OK. (See Figure 16.)
42. Select Auto setting item. (See Figure 17.)
43. Confirm all of the values are correct. (See Figure 18.)
44. Select OK. (See Figure 18.)
45. Select WRITE CONFIGURATION - Config file. (See Figure 19.)
46. Select Next. (See Figure 19.)
47. Confirm the vehicle information displayed is correct. (See Figure 20.)
48. Select End. (See Figure 20.) BCM configuration is complete.
49. Confirm the vehicle operates normally and no DTC codes are present.
