Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

General Description

The Power Sliding Door (PSD) is designed to open/close with the push of one of two buttons located in the vehicle. If the vehicle is equipped with Keyless Entry, the PSD can also be opened/closed remotely with the Remote Key less Entry (RKE) Transmitter. A "Power Assist" will take over an open/close operation that was started by a manual movement of the Sliding Door. The Power Sliding Door feature is enabled or disabled with the Power Sliding Door Lockout Switch located in the Interior Lamp and Multi-function Switch.

The two switches in the vehicle that will activate the Power Sliding Door to open/close are located on the Overhead Console and the RH "B" Pillar. There is a Power Sliding Door button on the RKE Transmitter that will cause PSD activation when pressed.

Power Assist

When the Sliding Door is fully closed and the inside or outside door handle is pulled, the Rear Side Door Actuator Control Module will activate a "Power Assist" and take over from the manual action, if the Sliding Door is open and manually moved in an open or closed direction greater than 7.5 cm (approximately 3 inches), a "Power Assist" will take over and complete the requested sequence.

PSD Can Only Function With the Sliding Door "Unlocked"

The Power Sliding Doors (PSD) can only function with the Sliding Door "UNLOCKED." If the Child Security Lock is engaged, the door will function properly using the Power Sliding Door Open/Close Switch (Interior Lamp and Multi-function Switch), the RH "B" Pillar Open/Close Switch (RR Door Latch Release Actuator Switch), or the Sliding Door button on the RKE Transmitter. The door will be inoperative using the inside door handle.
