Poor Rear Washer Performance (Replace Washer Nozzle)

1997-98 Chevrolet Venture
1997-98 Oldsmobile Silhouette

Condition
Some owners may comment on poor rear washer performance.

Cause
The rear washer nozzle may be plugged with residue from the rear washer fluid line. The plastic washer fluid line may leech a plasticizer into the washer fluid. This substance is caused by a reaction between the plastic line and the washer fluid. This reaction will only take place once for the life of the line.

Correction
Purge the rear washer fluid line and install the new rear washer nozzle (P/N 12363363), using the following procedure:

Procedure

1. Release the two retaining tabs extending from the sides of the nozzle.

Important:
DO NOT let the washer fluid line fall into the liftgate.

2. Remove the nozzle from the line while securely holding the washer fluid line.

3. With assistance, run the washer pump for 30 seconds to purge the line.

4. Install the new rear washer nozzle to the hose.

5. Install the washer nozzle to the liftgate by pushing into place.
