Cruise Control: Adjustments

SYSTEM RELEASE SWITCHES, ADJUST
Insert switches into tubular clip until the switch seats on clip. Then, pull brake pedal rearward against stop. The switches will be moved in the clip, thereby providing the proper adjustment.
SERVO LINKAGE, ADJUST
Units w/Servo Rod
With curb idle speed properly adjusted and the carburetor in curb idle position with the engine off, install servo rod retainer in hole that provides clearance between retainer and servo bushing. Some clearance is required, however, do not exceed the width of one hole.Units w/Bead Chain
Assemble chain to be taut with carburetor in hot idle position and the idle solenoid de-energized. Place chain into swivel cavities which permits chain to have slight slack. Place retainer over swivel and chain assembly. Retainer must be made to rest between balls. Cut off chain flush with side of swivel to remove excess length. Chain slack should not exceed one half diameter of ball stud, .150 inch, when measured at hot idle position.Units w/Cable
With throttle closed, ignition and fast idle cam off, adjust cable jam nuts until freeplay is removed from cable sleeve at carburetor without holding throttle open. Torque jam nuts to 50 inch lbs. Ensure servo boot is over cable washer.
ORIFICE TUBE ADJUSTMENT
Models w/Transducer Regulator
If the cruising speed is lower than the engagement speed, loosen the orifice tube locknut and turn the tube outward; if higher turn the tube inward. Each 1/4 turn will alter the engagement-cruising speed difference one mph. Tighten locknut after adjustment and check the system operation.
