Injection Pump & Lines

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect ground cables from batteries.
2. Remove air cleaner.
3. Remove filters and pipes from valve covers and air crossover.
4. Remove air crossover and plug intake manifold.
5. Disconnect throttle rod and return spring on V8 engines or throttle cable and TV detent cable from pump throttle lever.
6. Remove bellcrank.
7. Remove throttle and throttle valve cables from intake manifold brackets and position cables aside.

8. Remove fuel lines to fuel filter, then the fuel filter, Figs. 14 and 15.
9. Disconnect fuel line at fuel pump and remove fuel line. If equipped with A/C, remove rear compressor brace.
10. Disconnect fuel return line from injection pump, Figs. 15 and 16.
11. Slide clamp from fuel return lines at injector nozzles and remove fuel return lines from each bank.
12. Disconnect injection pump lines at injector nozzles, Fig. 17. It is necessary to use two wrenches.
13. Remove nuts retaining injection pump with tool No. J-26987.
14. Remove injection pump and cap all lines and fittings.

INSTALLATION
1. Align offset tang on pump driveshaft with pump driven gear, Fig. 18, and install injector pump.
2. Loosely install the injector pump retaining nuts and lock washers. Connect fuel lines to injector pump and torque line fittings to 25 ft. lbs., Fig. 17.
3. Connect fuel return lines to injector nozzles and injector pump.
4. Align mark on injection pump with line on adapter and torque retaining nuts to 18 ft. lbs. on V8 engines or 35 ft. lbs. on V6 engines.

5. Adjust throttle rod.
6. Install fuel line from fuel pump to fuel filter, Figs. 14 and 15. If equipped with A/C, install rear compressor brace.
7. Install bellcrank and hairpin clip.
8. Install throttle and throttle valve cables, to intake manifold brackets and attach to bellcrank. Adjust throttle valve cable.
9. Connect throttle rod and return spring on V8 engines or throttle cable and TV cable on V6 engines.
10. Crank engine and check for fuel leaks.
11. Remove plugs from intake manifold and install air crossover.
12. Install tubes in flow control valve in air crossover and ventilation filters in valve covers.
13. Install air cleaner.
