Electrical Checks

Fig. 18 Sensor connector wire terminal locations:

This procedure should be used only if all procedures leading up to it have been followed to prevent improper diagnosis.
1. Turn ignition ``On,'' then disconnect wiring harness from height sensor. Using a suitable test light check for voltage at terminal 5 of the height sensor wiring harness, Fig. 18. If no voltage exists, check for opens or a blown fuse in circuit to terminal 5. If voltage exists, proceed to step 2.
2. Check for voltage at terminal 6, Fig. 18. If no voltage exists, check for opens or a blown fuse in circuit to terminal 6. If voltage exists, proceed to step 3.
3. Place test light lead in terminal 4, Fig. 18, of height sensor wiring connector and probe terminal 4. If lamp does not light, repair system ground and retest. If lamp lights, proceed to step 4.
4. Using a suitable jumper wire, jump terminals 3 and 4, Fig. 18. If compressor does not operate, repair open circuit to terminal 3. If compressor does operate, proceed to step 5.
5. Using jumper wire, jump terminals 2 and 4, Fig. 18. If shocks do not deflate, repair open circuit to terminal 2. If shocks deflate, system is satisfactory, refer to ``Height Sensor Operational Test.'' Before reconnecting the height sensor connector, the ignition must be ``Off.''
