Fig. 17 Concealment plug removal:

1. Remove carburetor, then place in a suitable holding fixture, manifold side up.
2. Using a suitable hacksaw blade, make two parallel cuts on each side of locator point in throttle body, below idle mixture needle plug, Fig. 17. The cuts should extend down to steel plug, but not more than 1/8 inch beyond locator point. The distance between saw cuts depends on size of punch used.
3. Place a suitable punch near ends of saw cuts at a 45° angle, then drive punch into throttle body until casting breaks away and exposes idle mixture screw concealment plug.
4. Remove steel plug using a suitable drift, then repeat procedure with second mixture needle plug. Hardened steel plug will shatter instead of remaining intact. Remove loose pieces prior to adjustment.
