Instrument Cluster / Carrier: Service and Repair
On some models, a yellow flag with the word emissions will rotate into the odometer window at 30,000 mile intervals indicating either a catalyst or oxygen sensor change is required. After performing the required maintenance, reset the emissions flag as follows:
a. On Cutlass models, remove cluster pad assembly. On 88, 98, Custom Cruiser and Toronado, remove lefthand trim cover.
b. On all models, remove trip odometer reset knob, if equipped.
c. Remove screws attaching cluster lens to cluster assembly and remove lens.
d. Using a pointed tool inserted at an angle to engage flag wheel detents, rotate flag wheel downward. When flag wheel is reset, the alignment mark will be in center of odometer window.
