Oil Pump Rotor & Slide End Clearance Check

Note: Do not service oil pump rotor and slide if either pump body or pump cover surfaces are damaged. Only service the rotor and slide if parts show signs of wear.

1. Using a suitable vernier micrometer, measure thickness of pump rotor and slide. Take measurements on flat undamaged surfaces.

2. Using measurements obtained in step 1, refer to Figure for service replacement parts. Replacement parts will provide the same clearance as the original oil pump assembly. Proper en clearance should be 0.0008-0.002 inch. This clearance cannot be measured with a feeler gauge.

3. Using a fine oil stone, remove any burrs on the replacement rotor and slide, then measure parts with a vernier micrometer to assure proper thickness. Incorrect rotor thickness could result in a damaged oil pump assembly and/or low oil pressure. Incorrect slide thickness could result in incorrect transmission line pressure.
