Torsion Bar: Service and Repair

Fig. 12 Torsion bar removal.:

1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove parts as shown in Fig. 12.
2. Remove torsion bar adjusting screw as shown in Fig. 12. Count number of turns when removing screw. When installing, turn screw in the same number of turns to return vehicle to proper height.
3. Slide torsion bar forward in lower control arm until torsion bar clears support, then pull down on bar and remove from control arm.
4. Reverse procedure to install. Torque torsion bar support retainer bolts to 20 ft. lbs.
