KNOCK AT LOW SPEED
1. Worn and brinelled drive axle joints.
2. Excessive clearance between side gear hub and housing bore.

BACKLASH CLUNK
1. Worn drive pinion shaft.
2. Excessive clearance between output shaft and side gear splines.
3. Excessive clearance between side gear hub and housing bore.
4. Worn differential pinion and side gear teeth.
5. Worn differential pinion and side gear thrust washers.
6. Excessive ring gear backlash.
