Power Brake Assist: Service Precautions

1. After disassembling a power brake unit, soak all metal parts in a suitable solvent.
2. Use only alcohol on rubber parts or parts containing rubber. After the parts have been thoroughly cleaned and rinsed in solvent, the metal parts that come in contact with hydraulic brake fluid or rubber parts should be rewashed in clean alcohol before assembly.
3. Use an air hose to blow dirt and cleaning fluid from the recesses and internal passages.
4. Always use all the parts furnished in the repair kit. Discard all old rubber parts.
5. Use extreme caution when disassembling power assist mechanisms, as releasing internal spring tension suddenly could cause damage or personal injury.
6. On models with hydro-boost assist systems, do not disassemble the accumulator. If the accumulator is damaged or diagnosed as defective, it must be replaced as an assembly.
