Park-Engine Running
In this range, the torque converter is filled from the release side and all clutches and the band are released. Line pressure at the throttle valve limit valve is limited to 90 psi. This limited pressure is directed to the T.V. valve, where it is regulated according to carburetor opening. With the selector lever in Park position, oil from the pump is directed to the pressure regulator valve, release side of the converter and lubrication system, manual valve, T.V. system, pressure relief valve and the line pressure tap.
Oil flows from the pump to the pressure regulator valve which will regulate line pressure. When pump output exceeds demand of line pressure, oil from the pressure regulator valve is directed to the converter clutch apply valve, which directs oil to the release side of the converter clutch. Return oil from the converter is directed through the transmission cooler to the lubrication system.
Line pressure at the manual valve is available for use in other operating ranges.
