A/T - 200 4R & 700 R4 Pump Failure

SUBJECT: 200 4R - 700 R4

PUMP FAILURE

PROBLEM:
After a rebuild on a 700 R4, or 200 4R, which had vane ring breakage, the unit has no lockup, or lockup all the time.

CAUSE:




Small pieces of broken ring go into the stator oil passage to lock up the regulator valve, which will either block the valve open or shut, causing the above symptoms.

CURE:
Always check this passage very closely, making sure that there is no foreign matter, either in the passage or in the lockup regulator valve bore.
