This bulletin supplements the information provided in Dealer Technical Bulletin 85-T-58.
The following labor times supercede those listed on page three (3) of bulletin 85-T-58. These are applicable for removal of the gear assembly from the vehicle, installation of the seal service kit (split-ring kit), and re-installation of the repaired gear assembly in the vehicle (including flushing the power-steering system per the instructions on page 6 of the special instruction sheet) in the bulletin.

In the unlikely event that the seal service kit (split-ring kit) does not correct the complaint condition, and it is determined that the rack assembly needs to be replaced, the following labor operation and times should be used. These times will replace those times listed on page four (4) of bulletin 85-T-58. These labor times should only be used when it is necessary to replace the "short-gear" or "short-rack" assembly to correct the complaint condition.
NOTE: PRIOR ZONE AUTHORIZATION IS REQUIRED

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REGARDING BULLETIN 85-T-58
- Labor operation T4624 as listed in Bulletin 85-T-58 should be used to reimburse customers for reasonable charges for previously paid repairs to correct a "temporary reduction of power steering assist when cold" condition.
- In accordance with normal policy, dealers are requested to reimburse the owner, and submit a warranty claim to Oldsmobile Division with the reimbursement amount shown in the sublet column. Should instances occur where owners requesting reimbursement do not have proper documentation, or the dealer considers the owner's repair expense to be abnormally high, dealers should contact their zone personnel for a review of the owner's request.
