SUBJECT INTERMITTENT OR INOPERATIVE FUEL AND/OR NUMBER: 86-T-46WATER TEMPERATURE GAUGES
DATE: July 21, 1986
MODELS/YEARS ALL 1985-86 MODELS WITH FUEL AND/OR
WATER TEMPERATURE GAGES SECTION: 8C
CONDITION
On 1985-86 models, the fuel and/or water temperature gauges may have intermittent operation or may be totally inoperative.
CAUSE
Loose instrument panel gauge retaining clips may cause this condition. The retaining clips hold the gauge in the instrument panel housing and provide electrical contact between the instrument panel printed circuit and the gauge itself. For the condition described above, check these clips and make sure they fit tightly.
CORRECTION
1. Remove instrument panel gauge cluster per service manual instructions.
2. Check for loose retaining clips on the back of the instrument panel.
3. Reinstall clips (be certain clips are not loose).
4. Replace gauge cluster.
