All 1987 Oldsmobile vehicles have a maintenance schedule booklet installed in the car at the time of production. Each booklet has two schedules of service intervals (Figures 1 and 2). The schedule the owner should follow depends on how the car is driven.

There has been some new and updated maintenance and lubrication information for the 1987 model year. Please read Section 0B in the 1987 New Product Service Manual for a full explanation of all maintenance service required.

Some of the new items are:

* The 1987 Maintenance Schedules now list the recommended intervals for tire and wheel rotation.
* No EGR system service is required on 3.OL and 3.8L engines.
* 4 section type new power antenna assembly does not require lubrication.

Schedule I is to be followed if the car is mainly delivery under one or more of the following conditions:

* When most trips are less than 4 miles (6 kilometers).
* When most trips are less than 10 miles (16 kilometers) and outside temperatures remain below freezing.
* Idling and/or low-speed operation in stop-and-go traffic.
* Towing a trailer.
* Operating in dusty areas.

Schedule I should also be followed if the car is used for delivery service, police, taxi or other commercial applications.

Schedule II is to be followed ONLY if none of the driving conditions specified in Schedule I apply.

SCHEDULE I

Follow Schedule I if your car is mainly driven under one or more of the following conditions:
* When most trips are less than 4 miles (6 kilometers).
* When most trips are less than 10 miles (16 kilometers) and outside temperatures remain below freezing.
* Idling and/or low-speed operation in stop-and-go traffic. +
* Towing a trailer.
* Operating in dusty areas

+ Note: Schedule I should also be followed if the car is used for delivery service, police, taxi or other commercial applications.

Follow Schedule II only if none of the driving conditions specified on Schedule I apply
