Camshaft Position Sensor: Description and Operation

DESCRIPTION
The crank and cam sensor functions are combined into one dual sensor called a combination sensor which is mounted at the harmonic balancer.

OPERATION
The camshaft sensor is a magnetic switch that is used to provide the igntion module with a (sync-pulse) signal. The ignition module then uses this signal to start the ignition firing sequence.
