TO ALL OLDSMOBILE DEALERS:

Oldsmobile Division is releasing Product Campaign 87-C-04 involving certain 1987 Cutlass Ciera models. These vehicles were produced with 2.5L engines which may experience loss of serpentine accessory drive belt tension resulting in loss of accessory drive component operation.

To prevent the possibility of this occurring, dealers are to inspect tensioners for codes 187, 197, 817 or 917. If one of these codes is found, the tensioner is to be replaced as directed in Product Campaign Bulletin 87-C-04.

If your dealership has vehicles involved in this campaign, you will receive with the campaign bulletin two lists of Vehicle Identifiction Numbers, owner names and addresses: one by VIN sequence; one in alphabetical sequence by owner. This data will enable you to follow-up with involved owners.

We urge you to limit the use of these lists to the follow-up needed for this campaign. Names and addresses from State Vehicle Registration files may be included; it is illegal in many states to use such data outside of campaigns.

Enclosed with this letter are:

Two Product Campaign Bulletins. 87-C-04 Copy of Owner Letter

Dealers with vehicles to correct will also receive:

One Printout of Vehicles in VIN Sequence One Printout of Vehicles in Alphabetical Sequence by Owner

Your cooperation in completing this campaign as soon as possible will be greatly appreciated.
