Shift Timing
The
Throttle Valve (T.V.) system adjusts shift timing according to throttle position and road conditions, varying upshift speed in accordance to throttle position and downshifting the transmission when the additional performance is required by the operator. However, the T.V. system does not control line pressure, and therefore 'shift feel,' as in other automatic units. Rather, the T.V. system incorporates a group of control valves which modulate line pressure and act in conjunction with the shift valves in order to control only shift timing.
