3. Remove throttle lever and bracket assembly with TV cable link, Fig. 9.
4. To remove control valve and pump:

Fig. 10, Auxiliary valve body & control valve assembly:

a. Remove all the auxiliary valve body screws except the one shown in Fig. 10. Loosen, but do not remove this screw, then remove the remaining control valve retaining screws.
b. Remove control valve and pump assembly and place on bench with machined surface facing up.

5. Remove No. 1 check ball from spacer plate, then pull out oil pump drive shaft, Fig. 11.

Fig. 12, Check ball locations:

6. Remove spacer plate, gaskets and the five (5) check balls located in the case cover, Fig. 12.
7. Check input shaft to case cover endplay for proper selective snap ring size, as follows:
a. Rotate transaxle so right axle end faces upward.

Fig. 13, Installing output shaft loading tool:

b. Install adapter plug tool No. J-26958-10 into right axle end, Fig. 13.
c. Install output shaft loading tool No. J-26958 and bracket tool No. J-26958-11.
d. Adjust tool to the correct load by turning knob until it bottoms.
e. Rotate transaxle so case cover side faces upward.

Fig. 14, Checking for proper input shaft selective snap ring:

f. Install input shaft lifter tool No. J-28544 into input shaft bore and tighten by turning handle, Fig. 14.
g. Install dial indicator as shown in Fig. 14.
h. Press down on lifting tool, then zero dial indicator.
i. Pull up on the endplay tool and note reading. Endplay should be .004-.033 inch (.10 to .84 mm). The selective snap ring determining endplay is located on the input shaft. If endplay is not correct, select a snap ring from the input shaft selective snap ring chart. Measure snap ring thickness for positive identification.

9. Remove remaining case cover attaching bolts, then separate case as follows:

Fig. 15, Removing case cover:

a. Install two M12 mm X 1.75 X 50 bolts into the dowel pin holes, Fig. 15.
b. Alternately tighten bolts until bottomed. Bolts will self tap and separate case and cover. Use caution not to pry on case cover.
c. Place case cover on bench with 1-2 accumulator side facing upward.

Fig. 16, Removing case center gasket:

10. Remove 1-2 accumulator spring, piston and center case to case cover gasket, Fig. 16.

Fig. 17, Removing driven sprocket thrust bearing assembly:

11. Remove case cover to drive sprocket thrust washer and driven sprocket thrust bearing assembly, Fig. 17. Case cover to drive sprocket thrust washer may be on case cover.
12. Remove sprocket and link assembly, then support to sprocket thrust washers. Sprocket to support thrust washers may come off with sprockets.
