Drive Range-2ND Gear
As the vehicle gains speed in first gear, governor pressure moves the 1-2 shift valve to the right against the combined forces of throttle valve pressure and the1-2 throttle valve spring, and oil pressure is applied to the second clutch. As the second clutch applies, the converter drive link, input housing and second clutch drive the reaction internal gear, and while the input clutch remains applied it is not effective. The 1-2 band also remains applied, holding the reaction sun gear stationary, and the reaction internal gear drives the reaction carrier around the sun gear. Power output to the final drive is through the reaction carrier at a reduction ratio of 1.57:1. This reduction ratio provides engine braking in both drive range second gear and manual second.
