Converter Clutch Solenoid

1. Remove solenoid assembly wires from clip and inspect for loose connections and damaged insulation.








2. Remove solenoid assembly attaching bolts, see first image, and remove solenoid assembly, see second image, then remove O-ring seal from assembly.

3. Inspect assembly ball check valve for nicks or damage.

4. Inspect check ball and seat as follows:

a. With solenoid deenergized, blow gently into ball seat. Air should pass through seat.

b. Apply 12 volts to solenoid, noting correct polarity, then gently blow into ball seat Air should not pass through seat.

c. If solenoid fails to respond as outlined above, it should be replaced. Do not use compressed air when checking ball and seat, since this may cause erroneous indications.
