Assembly
NOTE: Install all flared (zinc coated) coiled pins flare end out, from machined face side of valve body. The two tapered (black finish) coiled pins that retain the throttle valve bushing, should be installed taper end first, from rough casting side. Coiled pins do not fit flush against rough casting face, but should fit flush against machined face of valve body.1. Install into lower left bore 1-2 accumulator spring (28), accumulator valve (27) with smaller stem out, bore plug (26) with hole out and pin (25), see image.
2. In next bore up, install direct clutch exhaust valve (20) with longer stem end out, spring (19) and pin (18).
3. In next bore up, install low overrun clutch valve (12) with longer stem end out, spring (11) and pin (10).
4. In next bore up, install intermediate boost valve (4) with longer stem end out, spring (3) and pin (2).
5. In lower right bore:
a. Install throttle valve (33) with smaller outside diameter land first Making sure valve is fully seated at bottom of bore, install inner pin (34) between lands of valve.
b. Install detent pin into spring (30) and install these parts into bore. Detent pin is used only on some models.
c. Install throttle valve plunger (36) with longer stem end first into plunger bushing (37) and install these parts into bore with valve end first.
d. Install pin (38) from rough cast surface side, aligning pin with slot in bushing.
6. In next bore up, install shift throttle valve (29) with larger outside stem end out, spring (30) and pin (31). Then using a plastic hammer, install new bore plug (32) until flush with rough casting side.
7. In next bore up, install reverse boost valve (21) with stem end out, spring (22), bore plug (23) with hole side out and coiled pin (24).
8. In next bore up:
a. Install 1-2 shift valve (13) with longer stem end out, making sure valve is fully seated at bottom of bore.
b. Install spring (15) into bushing (16) and throttle valve (14) into bushing (16). Install these parts with valve end first into bore, alining bushing (16) so pin (17) can be installed in slot. See image for pin slot and identification of throttle valve bushing.
9. In next bore up:
a. Install 2-3 shift valve (5) with longer stem end out, making sure valve is fully seated at bottom of bore.
b. Install spring (7) into bushing (8) and valve (6) with stem end first into bushing (8). Install these parts with valve end first into bore, aligning bushing so pin can be installed in slot, see image.
10. Install manual valve (1) with inside detent lever groove to the right.
11. If removed, install new seal ring (40) on 1-2 accumulator piston.
12. Oil and install 1-2 accumulator piston (41) with spring pocket side out.
